Recently, as I sat across the table from our co-founder, and my long time friend, Tom Bachik, it occurred to me just how far the two of us had come since we first met roughly nine years ago. When I first met Tom we were both at the early stages of our career and we each were overflowing with ambitions and dreams. Now, sitting across from him, I found myself looking at a man who had the unwavering confidence and intense passion of someone who has experienced an incredible achievement and long-term goal.
He and our other co-founder, Tom Holcomb didn’t arrive at their goals by accident. Arriving at their destination required many steps along the way. Each of them consistently built the foundation necessary to achieve their goals. In essence, Entity Beauty is the culmination of over 30 years of combined experience and achievement.
As I listened to Tom passionately discussing the future vision of Entity Beauty, I realized that although he had just achieved one of his most significant professional goals, he had already begun to set his sights on the future. He had already established a new vision and had begun the process of working toward his next goal.
It wouldn’t be very effective to attempt to drive cross-country to a destination we had never visited without a map. Yet, when it comes to our goals in life, we often set out without a plan. We dream about where we want to go, but we never develop a map of how to get there.
Just as with a road trip, having a clear direction – a road map - helps us reach our destination. Goal setting, however, is more than scribbling down ideas on a sheet of paper, it is clear and focused much like a roadmap. If you follow the suggestions I’ve outlined below, you will be able to build an effective map and plan of action to reach your goals:
- Make sure your goals are something you truly want, not just something that sounds good.
You will most likely encounter obstacles on your way to reaching your goal. The stronger your desire and motivation, the more momentum you will have to overcome those obstacles.
- Make sure your goals are in alignment with each other.
If one of your goals is to buy a million-dollar home, you can’t do that if your income goal is only $50,000 per year. Your goals have to be checked for alignment.
- Develop goals for all areas of your life, not just professionally.
You should set goals for unique areas of your personal life. Some examples would be goals that are educational, financial, spiritual, related to your family, etc. By establishing goals for many areas of your life, you ensure a more balanced experience and can better avoid the pitfall mentioned in step 2.
- Establish your goals in the positive rather than negative sense.
Focus on what you want to achieve and not what you want to leave behind. Part of the reason we write our goals is to give the subconscious part of our mind instructions to be carried out. The more positive the instructions you create, the more positive the results you will receive.
- Establish goals that contain elaborate detail.
For example, instead of writing down ‘buy a new car’ try writing something like ‘buy a silver 2007 Mercedes CLK convertible with grey leather seats and top of the line stereo system.’ Can you close your eyes and visualize the car I described above? Now imagine the feel of the leather steering wheel in your hand, the smell of new leather as you sit in the car for the first time, and the wind blowing through your hair as you travel down the road with your favorite song on the radio. Do you see how these details help bring your goal into laser sharp focus and make it more real for you?
- Make sure your goal is high enough.
You’ve probably heard the saying ‘Shoot for the moon; you may land among the stars.’ An important benefit of working toward a lofty goal is the achievements you will make along the way. Even at times when we fall short of a goal, we are farther along the path and much better off than when we first began.
- Write down your goals!
Writing down your goals begins the process of creating your roadmap, which will help set the process in motion. Written goals also provide you with a reference that will help you identify and focus on actions that bring you closer to your goal and help avoid those that interfere or waste your time. Refer to your written goals daily and when planning your daily activities ask yourself ‘Does this bring me closer to my goals?’
Each of us has skills and talents that make us unique. However, talent isn’t a guarantee of success. By taking an active role in your own future, you will increase your ability to achieve massive success.
On that note, Entity Beauty was created with a singular mission – to empower you, the nail artist. We currently have many opportunities available for those who wish to pursue a career as a part of our competition or education teams or in the area of sales management and leadership. We encourage you to share your goals with your local Entity leader and allow us to help you along your career path.
“A goal without action is a dream. A dream without vision is a nightmare.”

What are the benefits of using Entity Cuticle Oil?
Entity Cuticle Oil was created using a proprietary blend of essential oils. This replenishing treatment penetrates deep within the natural and acrylic nail, increasing strength and flexibility.
Finish your acrylic service by massaging Cuticle Oil into the nail and surrounding skin. The oil will penetrate the acrylic nail helping to speed the rate of cure and provide a protective cushioning within the nail itself, helping to prevent cracking and breaking. In addition, the Cuticle Oil is enriched with vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants, such as Avocado Oil, Hemp Seed Oil, Apricot Oil, Jojoba Oil, Sweet Almond Oil and Aloe Extract to nourish the cuticle area and keep the skin soft and supple. This is a perfect home maintenance product to retail to your clients, and a great gift for the holidays.
