Member Profile: The Guy Above the Salon. The True Story of an Entity Wedding.
"He was nice, friendly and pleasant enough. I knew his name was Dave and that was about it." That's the way Advantage member Marie Reed of Columbus, Nebraska remembers the guy that lived above the salon. "It was no big deal. We'd say hello in the mornings and wave good-bye in the evenings."
It was a tough time for this mother of seven. She was juggling kids, work and a divorce all at the same time. To say she was a little stressed is like saying the Titanic had a small flotation problem. Then Dave began to stop downstairs for coffee. They would have small conversations about ordinary things, the weather, work and the news. A friendship grew as they talked, and then one day Dave asked Marie out on a date. Marie looked him square in the eyes and asked, " Are you crazy? I have kids and dogs, and are you crazy? Perhaps he was crazy, but Dave and Marie have been together ever since.
And now this romance will take to the high seas when they exchange their vows on board the cruise ship during the Entity Caribbean Cruise Celebration. All of our Entity family is invited to attend. So make sure you qualify for the cruise and help celebrate with Dave and Marie. It will be an affair to remember. But even now, Marie is still shaking her head and can't understand why Dave didn't run for the hills. "He lived frugally and was debt free. He had total freedom. It was peaceful in his apartment. Now there is kid chaos, house payments, car payments." But if you ask Dave his eyes twinkle and a small smile appears on his face and in a quiet voice he says, " I'm not alone any more, not on Christmas or Thanksgiving or any day. I may be in debt and it may get pretty wild around here but I am one of the richest people in Nebraska...maybe even the world."
Maybe they both are.

As the year ends and another year begins, it is important that we start to reevaluate where we are in our business and where we want to be. I recently held an Advantage Meeting and as always, there was a big fuss about the discount salons. As usual, I disagreed with the nail artists in attendance. My full sets cost $85 to $120 and my appointment book is full. And there are discount salons across the street and around the corner from my salon.
I believe many things determine your ability to compete successfully as I do with discount salons, including your technical skills, personality and education. However, I believe your professional image is one of the most important keys to success. By image, I mean every point of contact with your guest or potential guest.
Let's take a quick checkup on ourselves. If Oprah walked into your salon, would she stay for a service? This is how I gauge my professional image - I call it the Oprah factor. Since Oprah and I both work in Chicago, it's easy for me to imagine the day she walks into my salon. What will she think when she enters? Oprah is accustomed to the finest. Will she be delighted by the atmosphere I created in my salon? Will my salon look so clean that she recognizes I will treat her with the same concern for her hygiene during my service? Or will she be afraid to sit down and touch anything?
In the same way, consider the message you send to clients before they enter your salon. If I don't have a business card or website - what does that say about me? When you give someone a business card, what does it say about your business; is it classy and upscale or is it cheap and cruddy? Your business cards should be a representation of your business and the message that you are trying to send. If you have a website, what is the message that you are giving there? In other words, would you be seen as the Four Seasons or Holiday Inn? And how is your phone etiquette? Do clients feel welcomed or rushed when they call?
We have all heard that first impressions are important - and they are! What is someone's perception of you when you first greet them in your salon or in a store? You should always present the best you. Good grooming is important. You are a nail professional and your hands and feet should be a representation of that. Our new Entity business cards also enhance your first impression. At Entity, we want to help you with all aspects of your business. From providing you with the very best products and training, to giving you the tools that help you project your best professional image. Our business cards say "nail artist."
There are many choices for a salon/spa guest to choose from. Ask yourself why someone should choose you over all the salons that they pass within a five-mile radius. Are you making the best presentation of your business? Everything about you and your business has to say success, skill, atmosphere and this is the place to be. You must sell your image to the people that you want in your salon. Don’t concern yourself with the discount salon. That is their image, is it yours? Would you want to be a guest in your salon, and would Oprah?

What Makes Entity Powder Different From Other Acrylic Powders?
With Entity Powders, you will always have color consistency.
Entity Powders are a hybrid blend of cosmetic quality co-polymers designed for effortless workability and unsurpassed resilience. The powders are created using both hard and soft polymers. This allows you to achieve the same color consistency with every application. For example: how many times have you been sculpting your smile line with white powder and had to add another bead in one area? Have you ever noticed that your whites don't match or the white looks marbled?
Entity sculpting powders also undergo a unique process to improve how well they absorb with our sculpting liquids for consistently perfect results - which means no more bubbles!
Entity Sculpting Powder colors are available in White, Pink, Natural and Clear. Entity White Powder is the most radiant opaque white available in the nail industry. It allows for thinner application with consistent color. Entity Pink Powder is a translucent pink in a universal color made to showcase the beauty of the natural nail. Entity Natural Powder is a sheer natural tone, perfect for hiding imperfections without appearing opaque or lifeless. It is ideal for clients who only wear color polish. Entity Clear Powder is completely transparent and crystal clear, almost like glass!
Entity Nudité Corrective Sculpting Powders are unlike anything available: Warm Pink and Cool Pink designed to complement any skin tone. The collection also includes Natural White (warm tone) and a Moon White (cool tone) for a softer French look. Nudité hides flaws and enhances the natural look of nails, creating the ultimate in French manicures. Finally – a powder that promises to deliver perfect nails on even the most challenging clients!
We offer two distinctive sculpting liquids providing varying set speeds to match your artistic style. You can choose our Signature Sculpting Liquid for a faster set or our Success Sculpting Liquid for a medium set and maximum color stability.
Entity Beauty’s family of powders and liquids are formulated to perform perfectly when used together. In fact, when used in combination, we guarantee our products’ performance – unconditionally!
